North High School Bands
North High School Bands
We work hard to provide many opportunities for our students. We strive to engage our students in making music and sharing it with our community. We are proud of the 94 students enrolled this year, which is the largest number NHS Bands has seen since the 2016-17 school year (in which 108 students were enrolled). Our moto is "Community and Excellence", Having Fun, Being Great, Working Hard!
We are proud to offer 3 curricular Band Ensembles, Harmony, Jazz Improv, AP Music Theory and History of American Popular Music which meet during the school day. In addition, we offer several extra curricular options such as Marching Band, 2 Jazz Bands, Pep Band, Indoor Drumline and Guard, Mariachi Band, Solos/Small Ensembles, Pit for Theatrical Musicals, and many of our students are involved in many Honor Bands.
Our concert band program offers students a balanced, comprehensive study of music through 3 curricular ensembles. Opportunities are provided for students to develop their skills at all stages of musical development through small group and large group study. Students demonstrate their learning during class and through evening performances throughout the school year. All of our students enrolled in band are encouraged to be nominated or prepare audition material for honor bands and festivals.
Symphonic Band: This band is an auditioned band and the top band at NHS.This ensemble strives to play difficult literature.

NHS Pep Band at Sioux City Musketeers School Day Game
Every student enrolled in band is involved in Pep Band. This band plays more popular music and helps to energize our crowds and support our teams. We play for home events, as well as community events that we are invited to attend and play. This year, we were invited to play for a Muskies game.
Indoor percussion marries elements of music performance, marching, and theater; thus, the activity is often referred to as percussion theater.
NHS Drumline opens the 2024 Siouxland Home Show
The NHS drumline is a musical ensemble made up of marching percussionists. Drumline members usually perform as part of a larger marching band, but they may also perform as a separate group for exhibition and special events.
